We think the most convincing evidence that the technology really works is the explosive growth in the market. Misting technology has been used in barns to protect expensive racehorses from biting flies for about 30 years. Then, about six years ago, an entrepreneur in Houston decided to apply the technology to mosquito control. He built a primitive system in his garage that worked so well he began to build them to sell. There was no budget for advertising or promotion, so local awareness was built by word-of-mouth.

Typically, it was owners raving about their mosquito systems at cookouts. Or their guests noticed that even though they were standing outside at dusk, they weren't being devoured by mosquitoes. Our estimate is that there are 10,000 - 15,000 working systems in the country. Most installed within the last two years. You wouldn't see that kind of growth if outdoor misting weren't truly effective!
